Just two week’s upfront rent, and two weeks bond after your background checks pass.

And if you land that dream job far away, or meet the love of your life and want to move in with them, no worries, no feeling trapped! There is NO fixed term contract aside from a minimum period of three months, so you can give a month’s notice to leave when it suits you!

As if that’s not already perfect, I own the house and live here too, so the place is up to decent living standard. I’m not one of those “get them in and disappear” types. I’m here and available to help with things that may arise, too.

Ideal flatmate: Respectful, tolerant, chilled, and sociable. LGBT friendly, tolerant, open-minded - no bigots. Professional, post-grad student, overseas newbies, or any decent person with a reliable income. Reliable and trustworthy, pays in full on time every time. Non-smokers, for everyone’s health. Non-drinkers / light social drinkers only – no “pre-loaders”! Singles preferred – couples can be considered. Willing & keen to help keep the house clean & tidy - clean up whatever mess you make, share the chores. Fully compliant with New Zealand Law and Auckland Bylaws - so that means absolutely no illegal substances on the property at all. Responsible adult of almost any age, not for those whose attitudes stopped growing up at 15.

The house: Double storey, end of long driveway on quiet “no-exit” road with peaceful family-oriented neighbours. Off-street parking - can fit up to five cars for friends to visit, , and on-street parking for when the driveway’s full. Laundry with washing machine, dryer, drying racks, and a washing line outside. Three heat pumps. Lounge has leather sofas & recliners, leather ottoman, heat pump, 55inch smart TV, and a small deck. Modern kitchen equipped with two fridges, touch control stove and oven, air fryer, slow cooker, and a range of other appliances, pots, bowls, etc., and has a small deck. Two shared modern bathroom / toilet facilities. Fibre based WiFi, connects inside and outside. Small back garden with lawn (well, grass with weeds now), garden improvements slowly happening. Multiple smoke detectors around the house, for everyone’s safety.

The deal: Move-in costs only two weeks’ rent, two weeks bond, pay rent weekly on Sundays after that. No fixed term contract aside from a minimum period of three months, so you can give a month’s notice to leave when it suits you! The room is upstairs, away from the other rooms, approximately 11sq.m, and has a double bed, bedside tables and lamps, two wardrobes, power sockets for your phone, laptop, tablet, etc., and a door lock. $205/week. Share bills for water, electricity, and WiFi, total is calculated pro-rata on dates, & billed monthly in arrears. Share chores, clean up your own mess, wash, dry, and pack away your dishes, and keep your room clean and tidy. Flatmates usually sort their own groceries and cooking, but I’m open to some shared meals.

The area: Quiet residential area. Pak&Save are at Sylvia Park Mall and Botany Town Centre, very short drive away, direct bus to Botany. The local area has 2x supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, take-aways, cafes, food court, gym, medical services, library, barber, hairdresser, 4x pharmacies, Warehouse, Post Shop, 2x petrol stations, and the original Auckland Night Market all just a few minutes’ walk away, in and around the local mall. There is a busy bus service - Bus 70 - connecting to Botany, Panmue, Ellierslie, Greenlane, Newmarket, Grafton, Universities, and Britomart, single deck and double deck buses in use, bus stop a short walk away, and buses into Howick too. Bus 70 connects with trains at Panmure, Ellerslie, Greenlane, Remuera, Newmarket, Grafton, and Britomart.

The rules: All based on one over-riding house rule: Do what’s right! Basic rules apply as for any flatting life - respect other flatmates and the neighbours, do your bit to keep the place clean and tidy, be careful, but tell me if you break something, etc. No wild parties, but some friends over occasionally is cool. No pets. No illegal substances. No smoking anything (yes, that includes e-cigarettes).

Second is the house owner’s partner, foreign student studying English, quiet but friendly, keen to chat, almost never drinks. Third is full time professional web developer, works from home most days, easy to talk to, very clean. Respectful, quiet (NOT a party house!), and friendly people, and that’s the sort of flatmate we’d like you to be. I own the house, so the place is up to my high standard. No runaway landlords, I’m right here and keep the house up to a high standard. Ideal flatmate would be a young professional, working holiday visa holder, or recent arrival in New Zealand looking to settle here long term. Must be quiet, responsible, LGBTQ+ friendly, and clean guys who share the chores and clean up after themselves. Oh yeah, and pays in full on time every time.
