Entrepreneur house: This is not an ordinary living situation. This is for people who are interested in making their own business; especially in science, computing or engineering, those committed to making things happen in marketing, event running, video creation, food innovation, and commercially-minded artists would be welcome too. Healthy eating, daily fitness, weekly cleaning, and saying ‘no’ to drugs and alcohol are also a part of our house culture. Contributing to running weekly fun events or creating improvements in the flat is expected of all people who live in the house; in terms of time should expect at least 6 hours of work per week. Would suit a driven individual who wants their cool ideas to finally become reality, and doesn’t mind doing a few hours of extra work per week to keep the rent low. The standard room rent is $220 per week, but this gets reduced by doing your fair share of running events/cleaning/house improvement/video/technology-install/artwork. We don’t mind what you are passionate about doing for the house, just so long as you are doing something every week.

The property itself is an old-style weatherboard house with stained glass windows with an ornate carved staircase leading to plush bedrooms on the top floor, and a co-working office space with a view. Being near the heart of Christchurch the New World supermarket is on the same block (2 minutes walk), South City Mall is one block over the road (5 minutes walk) the famous Riverside Market and nightlife area is 10 minutes walk away, as are the Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park. The location is also unique because it is surrounded by commercial buildings, meaning we are the only ones living in the area. The streets are very quiet after 6pm, and we can have music in the backyard or run events, without disturbing neighbors. To get in shape, the Gallery Fitness Gym is right next door which costs $5 per week, no contract. $50 sign up fee. The room is a double and fully furnished, with a bed and chest of drawers, chandelier. Deep woolen carpets and central heating radiator to keep warm while working.
