About the room

We are the young seedling of a heart-centred, clothing-optional, intentional community called The Nest. Inspired by radical love and freedom, we are pro-choice, and aspire to support each other through the challenges and beauty of the human experience.

We have two rooms available due to two nestlings moving in together, and another leaving to be with his beloved.

We have abundant gardens of spray-free veges, herbs, fruits, and nuts. We spend time gardening, walking, enjoying the sun, learning about plants and psychology, doing kundalini yoga, having heart-sharing circles, and sharing community meals. Some of us also love singing, dancing, playing games and watching movies. Please read more about us below if you feel resonance.

Kārearea room details: $240 per week single/$270 pw couple Bond is four weeks rent $960 ($1080)

Expenses are $30pw per person covering unlimited fibre internet, and reasonable power and water use. Garden expenses and communal eco-supplies are an additional $20, providing lawn and garden maintenance, seeds and growing of spray-free fruit, veges, and herbs, and supplies for the house (smartass toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels, ecostore handsoap, dishwashing liquid & powder, laundry powder, baking paper, etc).

We are very unlikely to be able to accomodate mammalian pets as we already have resuce catcat and senior dogdog living on the property. We take dogdog for lovely walks around the neighbourhood.

Current community members are open-minded, heart-centred individuals in our early thirties. We are a mix of ethnicities, genders, and sexualities, and welcome further diversity!

Our current vision is to create an environment in which we feel nourished and safe to explore and live into the values of radical love and freedom through body-mind liberation, and respect and responsibility.

Body-mind liberation – this includes awareness, connection, and embodiment through practices like acro-yoga, breathing, ceremony, contact improv, creating, cuddling, dancing, fasting, forgiving, gratitude, introspecting, martial arts, meditating, nakedness, nature-bathing, playing, running, service, singing, slacklining, swimming, tantra, walking, yoga. We also enjoy learning, playing board games and watching movies and documentaries.

Respect and responsibility – this includes care and compassion, conscious communication, conscious consumption, decolonisation, ethical eating, growing organic food, permaculture, radical kindness, radical inclusion, refusing/reducing/re-using/re-purposing/recycling, soil regeneration, sustainability.

We respectfully reject factory farmed meat, pesticide, fungicide, cigarettes and regular alcohol/drug consumption.

About the house: All living areas of the house are upstairs where the beautifully laid out open plan captures sunshine and stunning views. The lounge includes a wood burner and the kitchen/dining flows effortlessly to the north facing balcony.

Balcony overlooks beautiful big permaculture-inspired garden of organic fruit, vegetables, flowers, fungi, and herbs, around a sacred lawn circle.

House & parking: One off street car park may be available if required. There is plenty of street parking. Garage is used as communal storage space. Balcony has a motorised awning to provide shade if wanted. Heat pump will be installed in lounge before winter.

Location: House is on Kitenui Ave; close to bus stops, train stations and motorways.

In the area: ~15 min walk up the beautiful maunga, Ōwairaka/Mt Albert ~5 min. walk to Fresh Collective supermarket, Rocket Park, YMCA gym, Thai massage, Mt Albert Aquatic Centre, Pyrenees French café, Parkside café, barber, dairy, fish & chips, kebabs, Z station ~10 min. walk to Baldwin Ave train station ~15 min. walk to Unitec, St Lukes mall and Mt Albert shops (cafés, takeaways, massage, etc)

Please contact Roo with any questions or to express interest =)
