About the room

Become part of building a healthy neighbourhood by moving into a newly built 3 bedroom town house in a large new development just opening in Glen Eden! Lovely well built home with deck and front opening into a small shared grass space. Lots of locked bike parking. Brand new warm quiet home!

The house is not secured yet as we need a third person to make our rent affordable but have applied for several and looking promising if we have a 3rd.

About the roomies

Me and my friend are on a new adventure. We are planning on moving into a new housing development in Glen Eden to pilot an idea we have of Christians with a heart for neighbour’s and community moving into new high density housing to be present in the neighborhood and connecting serving the community at grass roots. Building healthy community from the get go, so we don’t need to go in later as an ambulance at the bottom of a cliff when it come run down and a slum because we just crammed a bunch of people in high density housing and hoped it built community. What does that mean in practice? Living in a three bedroom town house in Glen Eden with us, (or if a family renting your own townhouse in the complex) Getting to know neighbour’s, having an open door and supporting people practically and being involved in creating the community life of the neighbourhood. Could be anything from running street bbqs, events fun and serious, movies, games with neighbour’s, having dinner with people, chatting praying, tidying neighbourhood gardens, project days, homework help, baby sitting… Anything really. Anything that’s loving and serving our neighbour’s. We just want to be on the ground practically loving and building a healthy community for whanau’s young and old. It’s not a job. We are intentionally living in community while also learning to love God and ourselves too. We also have normal lives. It’s not all give and burn out. We want to create and culture in the house of honesty and openness. A place where we can be real, figure what loving boundaries are in our lives, talk and wrestle with the real life struggles and celebrate with one another, figure how to do faith in the hard spots of community, how to love ourselves and others at the same time. To be real, honest vulnerable people of faith connected living with our neighbour’s. I have worked for 10 Years in Youth With a Mission YWAM and 12 years Pastoral Support for community. My friend has done various jobs including a Community Chaplain. No experience is needed to join us just a heart for community! If you are interested in joining our adventure or keen to know more flick me a message, email, text or call of interested. No strings attached. Keen to hear your heart and questions.
