I’m a 24 year old American-New Zealander who grew up in The United States’ Pacific Northwest. At 18 I moved to Dunedin to study geography at Otago University and fell in love with New Zealand’s cultures and environments. After spending some time back in The States, I’ve recently returned to New Zealand to study environmental management at EIT.

I would say that I’m a fairly reserved/introverted person who enjoys some alone time with a good book, listening to podcasts, making art, or spending time in nature, however I also love to meet new people who can expand my understanding of the world and have fun times with. As we get to each other I can become much more outgoing. In the past I’ve enjoyed having weekly games nights, shared meals, and outings with my flatmates, but this is by no means an obligation.

While I am not the tidiest person out there, I do my best to keep communal spaces clean and organised, and expect others to do the same. I’m not much of a partier (although I do love a good music gig), but I’m fine living with others who like to host parties as long as they are respectful of things like noise-levels late at night (I.e. past midnight) and can clean up after themselves the next day.

As an openly queer person my ideal flatmates would either be others in the rainbow community, or are at the very least respectful, kind, and accepting towards LGBTQ+ people. I also do my best to create an environment where marginalised people of all different ethnicities, races, classes, and backgrounds feel safe and recognised. These issues are very important to me.

Difficulties and conflicts will always naturally arise when living with other people, but I believe that direct, clear communication is key to resolving these issues and I always aim to be considerate and empathetic.
