The Sanctuary is a sunny, spacious home in the heart of Ōwairaka’s (Mt Albert’s) Golden Triangle. Made up of a four-bedroom house, downstairs flat, and huge sunny garden, space and privacy are abundant, and connection is nearby when wanted.

Current flatmates are heart-centred, free-thinking, and value people’s freedom of choice.

In our humble flat community, we encourage authentic self-expression, clear communication, growth, healing, and radical kindness. We are clothing optional and aspire to non-judgmentally support each other through the challenges and beauty of the human experience. We compost, re-use and re-purpose, and enjoy a variety of veges, herbs, edible weeds, fruits, and nuts that grow on this 1000m² slice of urban paradise.

Each of the bedrooms are named after birds native or endemic to Aotearoa.

Kereru room details - 15m² floor area including very large wardrobe with storage shelf and very large storage cupboard. Furnished with bed, desk, chair, bedside table, drawers, shelves, mirror, and lamp.
$310 per week single - bond $1240 $350 per week couple - bond $1360

Expenses are are flat rate of $40pw per person. This covers unlimited fibre internet, and reasonable power and water use, which makes up make up approx. $30. The remainder covers lawn and garden maintenance and communal eco-supplies (ethical toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels, ecostore hand-soap, dish-washing liquid & powder, laundry powder, rubbish bags, cleaning products, etc).

About the house: All living areas of the house are upstairs where the spacious, laid out open-plan captures sunshine and stunning views. The lounge includes a wood burner and heat pump, and the kitchen/dining flows effortlessly to the north facing balcony – a beautiful spot to hang out! The balcony has a motorised awning to provide shade or shelter if wanted. We also have super plush carpet throughout the house, including in the bedroom - delicious to lie about on!

House & parking: There is plenty of street parking. Garage is used as communal storage space.

Location: House is on Kitenui Ave; close to bus stops, train stations and motorways.

In the area: ~15 min walk up the beautiful maunga Ōwairaka/Mt Albert ~5 min. walk to Fresh Collective supermarket, Rocket Park, YMCA gym, Thai massage, Mt Albert Aquatic Centre, French café, Parkside café, barber, dairy, fish & chips, kebabs, Z station ~10 min. walk to Baldwin Ave train station ~15 min. walk to Unitec, St Lukes mall and Mt Albert shops (cafés, takeaways, massage, etc) ~ 10 min. drive to Pt Chev beach ~ 15 min. drive to Takapuna beach

Current flatmates are a mix of ethnicities, religions, sexualities, and ages, and we welcome further diversity! Most of us are in our thirties, but will consider adults of all ages joining.

Our current vision is to create an environment in which we feel nourished and safe to explore and live into the values of radical love and freedom through body-mind liberation, and respect and responsibility.

Body-mind liberation – this includes awareness, connection, and embodiment through practices like acro-yoga, breathwork, ceremony, contact improv, creating, cuddling, dancing, fasting, forgiving, gratitude, introspecting, martial arts, meditating, nakedness, nature-bathing, playing, service, singing, slacklining, swimming, tantra, walking, yoga. We also enjoy learning, playing board games and watching movies and documentaries.

Respect and responsibility – this includes care and compassion, conscious communication, conscious consumption, decolonisation/reindigenisation, growing organic food, permaculture, radical kindness, refusing/reducing/re-using/re-purposing/recycling, soil regeneration, sustainability. We respectfully reject pesticide, cigarettes, and frequent alcohol/drug consumption.
