We are very lucky to be able to share our rustic home, one of the ‘classic villas’ of old Ponsonby. It is a short walk from the bus stop at the corner of Jervois and Ardmore Rd. It is also close to ‘Three Lamps’ and Ponsonby Rd. Inner City and Outer city buses run along these lines.
Our home has a bit of a life of its own, so we ask that people be respectful of the common space and the good folks who come into and through our lives here, and to help keep the place tidy. There is no smoking on the property, but there is a big open field out back to enjoy a sit and a smoke if you are so inclined. We have a shared kitchen which sometimes features goodies for all. You’d be surprised what comes out of the old gas cooker we continue to use…it was here when we bought the house in 1978…it makes great pizza.
A furnished room is available now for $330 per week. A larger room is available at $380. We also have temporary accommodation: a large private room $65/day (3 day minimum), homey hostel style for short stays.
We should mention that we have a cat who is very friendly but of course, like all cats, allergy-producing. Oh, yes and we have to ask for assurance that you have been vaccinated.

We are retired academics (originally from America) who spend most of our time in what we call ‘the castle’ - a sleep out at the back of the house. We have been renting out rooms in this wonderful old villa for years, often to students or travelers from all over the world.
