Charlotte's room

Room going in a very sunny 3 bedroom 1950s house in the leafy suburb of Wilton.

About the house: The house faces northwest and overlooks Ōtari-Wilton bush and the Skyline track, and gets a large amount of sunshine. Sometimes, too much. There is a huge deck that is perfect for hanging out on, drinks, dinner, yoga, watching the sunset etc. The terraced back garden has a vege garden and the largest washing line you’ll ever see. Lawnmowers come to do the lawns fortnightly. Kākā, tūī and kererū are everywhere. There is a garage for all the activity equipment - surfboards, bikes, gardening gear, pottery, woodwork etc (we don’t keep cars in there). There is one bathroom and the shower has amazing pressure. The corner couch is exceedingly comfortable. There is a separate laundry with heaps of storage and bench space. It’s not the biggest house and it warms up quickly on a sunny day. We put aside $25/week each for bills including power, internet and cleaning miscellaneous.

About the area: Bus stops for routes 13, 14 and 22 are very close by. Walking distance to the Beehive, Kelburn and the CBD. Hiking and mountain biking trails are close by on Te Ahumairangi, Ōtari-Wilton and Skyline. Zealandia not far away. A cute cafe, and fish and chip shop are two mins down the road. The neighbours are very friendly. Heaps of free on-street parking.

About the room: The double room has a built-in wardrobe, neutral walls, curtains and carpet, some evening sunshine and views over the hills. It is the smallest room, so it’s the cheapest and it doesn’t receive full sun - meaning it is nice and cool during the summer heat!

Move in date is completely flexible. Room is currently used as an office, so there’s no hurry.

About the human flatmates: We’re two ladies in our early 30s who work full-time for the government. One of us works from home 2-3 days a week. We like to live in a tidy, clean, respectful and peaceful home. We enjoy cooking good food, coffee, yarns about big ideas, adventures, running etc

About Kevin: Kevin is a 1.5 y/o black labrador x border collie pup. He is very friendly and sweet, with plenty of energy and a terrifying obsession with the ocean. He’s an inside dog. He goes to doggy daycare twice a week. Sorry, no other dogs or pets allowed.

About you: Preferably you’re also in your 30s and either a post-graduate student or working professional looking for a nice home for the summer. Hopefully, you’re into having a tidy home, eating good food, having a good chat but also your own independence. Must like dogs. Sorry no couples.
