Quietly hidden away off the main road of Avondale, in a little complex of other townhouses and apartments; you won’t need a car to live here with trains, heaps of buses, and safe cycling infrastructure all just outside! The neighbours and surrounding community are really lovely and supportive, and we have heaps of great food, the night market and more right on our doorstep.

It’s a newish build, 3 storey secure townhouse, so it’s quiet, healthy and cheap to keep cool/ warm. I haven’t installed a heatpump because the place never gets colder than 17 degrees or hotter than 23.

About the room

• North facing so gets sun all day
• 5mx5m, fits a queen bed and desk with heaps of space to spare, has two wardrobes you can move around/ chuck out if you don’t want them, and gets all the sun (north facing).

The $230 weekly rent doesn’t cover utilities. Utilities are unlimited internet, water and electricity, which comes to around $94/ month each.

Preferred flatmate If you’re a good, chill person who has similar values (sustainability, community, inclusion), I’d love to live with you. I do my best to make this a safe space for everyone and will gladly take on any feedback to keep it inclusive for all.

Kia ora, I’m a queer (bi), 36yr old cis woman with invisible disabilities, big on kaitiakitanga, and inclusive hapori kaitiaki (community custodianship).

I work as a public servant, help run Bike Avondale (a local sustainable active modes community group), and am a volunteer Civil Defense Emergency Responder. In my free time I read, make art, do yoga, hike, gym, kick-box, cycle, practice NZSL, and catch up with friends and family (sometimes head to Kirikiriroa for the weekend).

When I’m at home, it’s to decompress and get some space from the world and cuddle my cats - or do my Emergency Response theory reading/ Bike Avondale work/ WFH occasionally.

While I do sometimes need time alone; I love hanging out with a flatmate maybe watching TV or movies, doing a puzzle or playing a silly couch co-op (easy two player game) on the PSN, having a deep or completely silly talanoa/ korero/chat, having a coffee on the balcony or at the local food truck cafe Ol’ Mate. Love just hanging out while doing our own thing too 🙂

Occasionally I’ll even have an alcoholic beverage/ go out for a drink but I’m pretty done with hangovers haha I’m a no drama person and don’t sweat the small stuff; as long as the kitchen is clean at the end of the day I’m happy.
