Vincent's room

We have a large sunny room up for rent in our very spacious house in Island Bay. It’s got loads of wardrobe space but is otherwise unfurnished. The room is available for around three months - but very probably longer.

The house has a few different places to relax in. The dining and lounge rooms are separate - so it never feels crowded or noisy. There is also a shared quiet work/study space.

We are on a flat private section with an old style garden.

The supermarket, village shops, cafes, library and bus stops are outside the gate. It’s a 5 minute stroll to the cinema and 10 to the beach.

There is free on street parking available nearby.

A sleepout space will also be available at the end May - see last 5 pictures. The sleepout has a bedroom, kitchenette and toilet. This area is separate from the main house. Whoever is in there comes into the house to use the bathroom and laundry. And to hang out or work if they wish.

Expenses of $24.50 a week pays for: a cleaner for the bathroom, basic household cleaning supplies, toilet paper, internet, rubbish collection and a groundsman. Power and gas are an additional cost averaging out at about $25 a week.

We are a happy mixture of people. Firstly - our little family consisting of Vincent (40 yrs, PHD student) Leenet (36, Project manager), and our son aged 9. Then we have Urvi (35, event manager & yoga teacher), Adam (26 on WHV) and James (23 on WHV). We are from India, the US and the UK.

Our combined interests include music, film, cycling, cooking, surfing, yoga, dance and more.

We are an independent, open minded, friendly, respectful sort of a group. We gladly stop for a chat and sometimes we all get together for a shared meal.

Overall it is a pretty quiet, welcoming place.

The home is well organised and runs very happily.

Friends around sometimes is fine but parties are out.

The property is smoke and vape free.
