About the room
THE HOUSE /
Located in Central Christchurch, this classic villa is a warm, welcoming homey-home with ample space, high ceilings and plenty of character. The open plan kitchen-dining-living room catches the afternoon sun. Lovely log-burner pumps out the heat, and French doors open onto a west patio which basks in the afternoon sun - situated on a large section. Whilst she’s an old villa, she has new thermal curtains, new carpets, new heaters, (heat pump coming) & a new ventilation system. The house is cool in summer, warm in winter.
THE ROOM /
Spacious, bright, sunny north-facing room, with new thermal curtains, new spongey carpet, and fully furnished if you need it – but please make it your own.
The room is quiet, tucked away from the living area. Optionally includes Queen bed, bedside table, chair, shelves, wardrobe, heater, and character fireplace (not in use), working desk & a dog-gate, if you’d like a pet-free zone.
PERKS /
Café quality coffee machine in the house, which can help save a bunch if you’re a caffeine-lover. Free parking compared to CBD. Lots of storage available. New white-ware. Vege garden available if you like growing your own. Ventilation system. Large section, so lots of private sun spots.
THE LOCATION /
Great locals around; ‘Under the Red Veranda’ just a block away, nearby also is ‘Bohemian Bakery’, ‘Poms Gastro-Pub & Little Poms Café & Eatery’, Linwood Village has a post office, butchers, and pharmacy is super handy, ‘Grizzly’ not too far away and ‘C4 Coffee’ on Fitzgerald Av, with ‘C1’ not much further. Let’s not forget ‘Butter Patisserie’ on Saturday mornings, who supply ‘Peaches’ café in the village.
Great location – not even 5m to the CBD, 10m to Brighton Beach & He Puna Taimoana Hot Pools by the sea, similarly to Sumner, Lyttelton and the Port Hills. Also easy to jump on the northern ring road out of town, or Brougham St to head south.
Being active – walks along the Avon to Margaret Mahy’s playground and beyond, runs, squash courts, ample parks, playgrounds and bike paths.
TRANSPORT /
Always free street parking available, on the main bus route with the stop just minutes walk (new bus shelters being installed). We’re also in the central scooter zone for handy alternative modes of transport when needed. It’s central to everywhere - the city, beach, hills and harbour.
