About the Property
This character-filled home, originally built in 1938, is located in Kawakawa, the gateway to the Bay of Islands. Fully insulated and currently undergoing renovations, it offers a comfortable blend of historic charm and modern living in a friendly Northland community.
The home features two and a half bedrooms, a cosy sunroom, two separate lounge spaces, a spacious kitchen and dining area, a separate toilet, laundry, and shower room. At the rear of the house is a large north-facing deck, covered to provide shade while still allowing you to enjoy the all-day sun. It’s a wonderful space for relaxing, entertaining, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
The available bedroom is a generous 3.5m x 4m with a small built-in wardrobe. It can be provided furnished with a double bed, brand new mattress, mattress topper, and bedding if desired.
Set on a large, fully fenced section, the property includes established fruit trees and a small vegetable garden. We enjoy spending time improving the outdoor spaces and are always keen to add more flower beds, vegetables, or garden projects with anyone who shares an interest in gardening.
The location offers the convenience of being close to Kawakawa’s shops, supermarket, cafés, pharmacy, and everyday amenities while maintaining a relaxed small-town atmosphere. Paihia is approximately 20 minutes away, Kerikeri around 25-30 minutes, Whangārei approximately 45 minutes, and Auckland around 3 hours by car, making this an ideal base for both local living and exploring the wider Northland region.
About the roomies
Hi! We’re Olivia (29) and Levi (26), along with our 18-month-old daughter, Gioia, and our much-loved dog, Bug. Bug is a 4-year-old Rottweiler x Huntaway who is about as goofy and affectionate as they come. He can be scared at first but loves people and is always happy to make new friends.
We’re a friendly, down-to-earth family who enjoy spending time at home working on renovation projects, gardening, cooking, and making the most of our property. Life can be busy with a toddler, but we enjoy a fairly relaxed and peaceful home environment.
Our home is family-oriented, welcoming, and respectful. We value open communication, cleanliness in shared spaces, and being considerate of one another. While we enjoy a chat and sharing the occasional meal or coffee, we also respect everyone’s privacy and personal space.
We’re happy to cook dinner some nights and include you if you’d like to contribute towards groceries. I love cooking and am more than happy to accommodate dietary needs or allergy requirements, so everyone feels comfortable and included at the table.
We’re looking for someone who is tidy, reliable, and comfortable living in a home with a young child and a friendly dog. We’d love to find a flatmate who is easy-going, respectful, and looking for a genuine home rather than simply a place to sleep.
If you enjoy a quiet lifestyle, don’t mind the occasional toddler giggle, and would like to be part of a warm and welcoming household, we’d love to hear from you.
