About the room

Located a two minute walk from the local shop and pub, and 10min drive from Taradale and EIT, St Michael’s House is conveniently positioned while still maintaining that country feel. Surrounded by paddocks and fronted by the St Michael’s and All Angels’ Anglican Church and grounds, there is plenty of garden and nature to enjoy. The room is moderately sized and well lit. There is an in-built wardrobe, and furnishings can be provided. Floor and ceiling insulation do their job, along with heat pumps. There are two large lounges and a dining room as communal living spaces so there is little need to stick to your room.

As a house tied to the Anglican Church, we do expect boarders to join in on household chores, share in evening meals, and assist with some of the maintenance of the adjacent grounds (mow lawns, leaf blowing, vacuuming hall occasionally). Nothing onerous, and in return power, and internet will be provided. Basic food and household supplies are an extra $25 a week.

Christian flatmates are preferred, but we are open to people who hold similar values (honesty, compassion, duty of care for the earth, etc.) and are not about to bully anyone into faith.

About the roomies

Two people are currently confirmed to live here for the next year, a social worker, and myself. I am 34 years old, female, and head of the house. I’m easy-going, and like things to be quiet and tidy. I enjoy crafts (sewing, spinning, weaving, pottery, etc.), have a passion for the natural world (aquarium, houseplants, finches), and am a competent cook and baker. The other flatmate is female, works full time, and a friendly sort.
